The systematic classification proposed by Lyal is accepted, however, the taxonomy of subfamilies and subgenera is not. I concur with other contemporary systematists who prefer the informal designation of species groups to address affinities within genera, especially those with many species. This is a stylistic preference and does not reflect any disagreement with the proposed phylogeny.
